CARRIE’S STORY

From being the salutatorian of her high school class, to earning a University of Chicago degree in Slavic Language and Literature with honors, to being a wife and mother of two, Carrie E. Fisher exceeded all expectations. Voted “Most Likely to Succeed” by her high school class, Carrie always upheld that status. Proudly born and raised in New Jersey, Carrie’s determination and drive was seen by anyone she encountered. Aside from the accomplishments that were visible, Carrie had the kindest heart.

Her distinctive laugh and bright smile showed, not only in social settings, but also during her academic years and during her career. Following her degree at Chicago, she obtained her Masters in Communication Science from Rutgers University. In the same year she had her first child, Erica, and she started a career as an executive in a consulting firm eventually becoming a principal. A full-time job did not stop Carrie from having her second child, Jacob, and she also managed to remain a fabulous wife to Michael, her husband and love since they were teenagers.

Carrie’s radiance still reigns today; from her love of family, to her passion for reading, to going to Jersey beaches, Carrie’s memories and her remarkable life live on in the lives of those she has touched. After a sudden stroke at only 47 years old, Carrie’s family found out she was an organ donor. Her gift of organ and tissue donations not only saved a number of lives, but also inspired her daughter to pursue a career in the organ donation field. The most selfless woman anyone knew was able to perform the warmest act of kindness known to man.
