MICAH’S STORY
Micah was taking classes at Victor Valley College to get an early start. He had talked about being a nurse, like his older brother, Adam, or exploring landscape design by working a summer with his brother Aaron. He enjoyed being creative and working with his hands, especially sculpting and drawing Marvel characters. He told his sister, Brittany, whom he FaceTimed nearly every day, that he'd like to continue playing baseball all the way up to the professional level. He loved Jesus, his parents, Cheryl and Chris, his siblings, Aaron, Adam, Brittany, and Cristian, and his nieces and nephews, Evelyn, Orion, and Rowan. He loved his school and his coaches, teachers, teammates, and friends there. He loved his church and the youth leaders and friends there as well. He looked up to his cousin Jeremy, who had played four years of college baseball. Micah was very fond of animals and sports, playing MLB and NFL video games, as well as participating in fantasy sports leagues. His favorite players were Mike Trout (#27), Ohtani, and Jackie Robinson (#42). Those were his favorite numbers as well. His favorite team was always the Angels, and we celebrated many of his April 7th birthdays at a live game. He was one of two setters on the AAE volleyball team, and played shortstop and catcher in baseball, starting most of the AAE Knights' games since his freshman year. He pitched only occasionally to take care of his arm, which he seriously injured at age 12, forcing him to take a two-year sabbatical away from baseball, while challenging him to try soccer for a change. His greatest skill was his running speed, usually hitting leadoff in AAE's lineup. At the start of his Junior season, his home-to-1st and home-to-2nd times equaled those the MLB published for Mike Trout. At the end of the 2024 regular season, Micah led his team and league in 5 offensive categories, including batting average, stolen bases, and runs scored. In the postseason, the Knights advanced all the way to the semifinal game, which they lost by one run. Less than two weeks later, Micah died in a car accident, along with his mother, Cheryl. Micah was always looking for ways to help others, and his siblings unanimously agreed that he would wish to help others by donating his organs for transplantation.
