JAMIE’S STORY

Jamie Alcroft is a heart and liver transplant recipient, comedian, author, voice actor, and dedicated OneLegacy Ambassador whose life and career have been defined by creativity, laughter, and gratitude. After receiving his lifesaving transplants in 2017, Jamie made it his mission to inspire others by sharing his story of resilience and renewal, using humor as a bridge to talk about the power of donation.

In 2005, Jamie suffered a heart attack while on a plane at 30,000 feet. For 12 years, he lived with a pacemaker/defibrillator, and a failing heart until his condition worsened to CHF in 2017. Within three months, he received both a heart and liver transplant—"previously enjoyed organs" that gave him a second chance at life. Since then, Jamie has written The Tin Man Diaries, he created LAFF4LIFE, walks his dog, and persists to be a tireless advocate for organ, eye, and tissue donation.

Through his partnership with OneLegacy, Jamie has helped reach audiences that traditional outreach cannot. He hosted Virtual Open Mic Nights for high school students, volunteered as emcee for donor appreciation events, and created Donor Appreciation Nights at the Hermosa Beach Magic & Comedy Club, offering free admission to registered donors. In 2025, he partnered with Levity Live and IMPROV clubs nationwide to launch LAFF4LIFE, a comedy-based donor awareness program that celebrates generosity through laughter.

Jamie's advocacy, humor, and heart have opened doors to new media opportunities and community partnerships that continue to grow OneLegacy's reach. His story will soon be featured in a national medical journal, further amplifying the importance of donation and the miraculous gift of life. He points out a pivotal quote from Margaret Mead, ""Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has"

A beloved entertainer and devoted family man, Jamie lives in Los Angeles with his wife, two-time Emmy award-winning ice choreographer Sarah Kawahara. Together, they raised three children, including musician and LGBTQ+ advocate Hayley Kiyoko. Jamie's gratitude for his donor family drives everything he does, reminding all who hear him that every heartbeat is a gift—and every donor, a hero.
