JOHN’S STORY

John Clarke Perry was a wonderful son, comforting brother to his twin sister Ella, and deeply loved by his big sister Emarie, and little sister and namesake, Evie Clarke. He was perfect, happy, and healthy. His big blue eyes and sweet smile could light up any room. John Clarke always had his beautiful blue eyes fixed on the TV when his dad was watching the LSU Tigers or the New Orleans Saints football teams.

When he was 6 months old, he became ill and was diagnosed with a brain bleed. After multiple surgeries, it was determined that he would not survive. The family was then approached about organ donation and without hesitation, John Clarke’s parents said “YES!”

John Clarke was able to donate his heart and his liver to two children in desperate need. His precious, perfect heart went to Davis Boswell. Davis is now able to do all the things a 6-year-old boy should be able to do. This would not have been possible without the gift of life, the gift of John Clarke’s heart. The Perry and Boswell families have met and share a special bond that only God, Himself, could have orchestrated. They love to cheer on their tiger teams together every year at the LSU vs Auburn game. They say Davis has a true “heart of a tiger.” The Perry and Boswells even travel in the summer together for summer vacations.

In 6 months, John Clarke changed many lives in his community and beyond. He will be remembered for not only saving lives on earth, but also for eternity. John Clarke’s family continues to share his story and his legacy through the John Clarke Perry Foundation. This foundation provides financial assistance to families with children in need of life changing medical treatments.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” - Joshua 1:9.
