JAMES’S STORY

Remembering a loving son and brother, James Tecce. Jimmy was only 24 years old when he passed away suddenly. He always had a great work ethic; from the age of fourteen, he worked hard at the family business of a sub shop and catering. Many customers shared that Jimmy would help them even after business hours, whether it be changing their tire or giving them a ride home. He was that kind of guy; never looking for attention or thanks, just helping someone out because it was the right thing to do. If he was your friend, he was your friend for life. It was natural that Jimmy continued to help others in his death through the donation of organs, tissues, and corneas. His kidneys, liver, lungs, and heart allowed five recipients to live longer lives, while his corneas and tissues helped so many others. His family is so proud of him. Their Jimmy may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. His family were very lucky to call him their son and brother.

Donation and transplantation greatly affected Jimmy's family. His mother and two uncles were diagnosed with cardiomyopathy that would require heart transplants. One uncle received the gift of a heart and lived for eight years; the other uncle passed while waiting for one. Jimmy's mother is a heart and kidney recipient who will celebrate her nine-year anniversary on October 18, 2020. Jimmy's mother became a volunteer with New England Donor Services to spread the importance of donation from both the donor family and recipient perspectives. She is glad to be a part of something that has done so much for her family.
