ANDREA’S STORY

Andrea Ann Doyens by the numbers; she lived almost 46 years, raised three spectacular children, cut and colored thousands of heads of hair and positively impacted 78 lives through organ and tissue donation.

By the places: born in Reed City, MI, passed in Jacksonville, Fl and in between called home places like Colorado, Kansas and Wisconsin. She loved the beach and raised her kids there.

By the passions: Andrea was a cheerleader in high school and college, played soccer, loved to sing, possessed an unwavering faith in the Lord and had tons of friends that she remained close to.

By all measures, hers was both a normal and a spectacular life, but the true measure of a life is the impact it leaves, and Andrea's life left one that will reverberate through the lives of the ones she left behind; as well as the lives touched by her donation.

As her family, we were devastated by her passing; but somehow buoyed by the promise of learning the impact of her gifts. It gave us something to look forward to through our dark times, it evolved into a family passion, and a commitment to continually evangelize the cause of organ and tissue donation.

We extend our deepest thanks to all those involved in the cause of organ and tissue donation, especially Legacy Donor Services Foundation, who not only handled Andrea's donation with compassion and kindness; but who have become friends, advisors and the fanners of our families most important flame.

Andrea couldn't be defined and wouldn't be limited. She was 100% committed to organ and tissue donation, repeatedly reminding the entire family she was a donor and that all of us should be. We made a commitment to honor her wishes, those wishes led us down a path we couldn't have foreseen, a path that we are now committed to walk for the rest of our lives. We can only hope that her gifts will set the ember aglow within the families who have received her gifts, and that even one will burn with the passion we now do.
