STEVE’S STORY

Steve Sepulveda was born on January 10, 1969, in El Paso TX. Steve was raised in Los Angeles until his passing on July 7, 2013, at the age of 44. Steve was a great son, wonderful father and amazing husband.  He left behind 2 daughters, his wife, mother and 2 siblings.

Growing up, Steve was a great kid with a lot of energy. He loved to play sports in school and he played high school football and basketball. He attended Humboldt University after high school. Steve and his spouse were school friends while in elementary school, and they remained friends through their high school. They began dating a few years after college. Steve was married for 17 years and had two beautiful young daughters.
Steve’s daughters were very ecstatic when they learned their dad would be honored for his donation. Steve’s tissue recipients are now living more comfortable lives because of their dad, and knowing there is a little bit of their father still in this world, brings them and his mother some comfort. Steve lost his father in 1987 and he helped support his younger sibling and mother. He enjoyed family time, golf, camping, taking his girls to the parks and pools, and dates with his wife.

Steve was being treated for a thyroid condition and this deteriorated his health and affected his heart. He passed from an enlarged heart. His wife likes to tell people: “Steve had a big heart,” and his decision to become a donor showed it. Steve was the type of person who would not hesitate to assist those who needed help from him. His family knows that he would find comfort in knowing that his donations have helped others heal and live better lives. He is no longer with us, but in a way, he is still part of this world.

Steve’s friends and family look forward to the 2019 Rose Parade, and the chance to see this wonderful man being honored, alongside others, for the great gift they all left behind through organ, eye and tissue donation.
