Russell brought an immense joy to those around him. He was admirable, outstanding, determined, and stubborn from the day he was born—qualities he carried with him through life. After graduation he moved to Las Vegas to pursue a career in theater. He performed numerous plays at the Onyx Theater and Planet Hollywood, finding his calling in theater. Russell’s other great loves were animals, reading, and movies. He also volunteered his time to read to students who also had a love for the arts at an after-school program.  He was the most generous, loving, and genuine person. The world lost an amazing soul. He was loved by many and made a huge impact during his short life.

Russell’s Story

Russell was admirable, outstanding, determined, and stubborn from the day he was born—qualities he carried with him through his life. He was a loving, well mannered, helpful child. Russell received numerous Super Citizen, participation, attendance, and achievement certificates which his family still has today. One could always find him coloring, reading, or drawing. During middle school, Russell decided he wanted to invest his time and energy in theater. He found his calling! In high school he helped choreograph plays at the nearby military base’s theater. When asked how much he was getting paid, he replied “I’m doing it because I love the art not because they’re paying me.” After graduation he moved out to Las Vegas to pursue a career in theater. He performed numerous plays at the Onyx Theater and Planet Hollywood, where he performed his favorite show, The Evil Dead. He also volunteered his time to read to students who also had a love for the arts at an after-school program.

Russell’s other great loves were animals, reading and movies. He rescued two fur babies that were his life. Since he was a kid, he was an avid reader and he always had a book in his hand. Russell’s goal was to read every Stephen King book ever written—he read 27. As a theater enthusiast, his favorite book was “Wicked,” and his favorite quote from the book was “Everyone deserves the chance to fly.” And finally, this kid loved going to the movies. Russell’s one of the few people his family knew who could watch two or three movies at the theater in one day. Russell brought so much joy to our lives. There are no words to describe the void that has been left in our lives. He was the most generous, loving, genuine, funniest person. The world lost an amazing soul. He was loved by many and made a huge impact during his short life. In the words of Stephen King; “Some birds are not meant to be caged, their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet. So you let them go. Part of you rejoices, but, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure.”
