Tyler’s Story

Tyler Joseph Monroe Andrews was born April 5, 1993, in Corona, CA.  He had two older siblings and one younger one.  He was a young man who loved being around his family and friends. He was a good student, an avid reader, was one of the captains of the mock trial team and was in the International Baccalaureate Program.  He graduated from Centennial High School in Corona, CA with high honors in 2011.  Tyler was constantly dependable, kind-hearted, and truly compassionate.  He had a light that would follow him into every room he walked into, and would drop all within a minute’s notice to help a friend in need with such ease and selflessness.  He was also very patient with others and remarkably responsible.  Tyler encouraged people to do their best in all things.  He had a beautiful smile that he loved to share with people.  He laughed.  He loved.  He enjoyed life.

A few days after he had turned 18, he signed up to be an organ, eye and tissue donor. In March 2012, a month and 4 days before he turned 19, he lost his life in a vehicular accident.  After his death, he became a bone, skin, vein and cornea donor and continues to enhance the lives of many.  He always wanted to make people feel better, so he knew by being a donor he could make a difference in people’s lives.  He was an amazing young man.  Tyler’s parents say that being a donor family has made them more aware of organ, eye and tissue donation, and how they can help others in their choice of becoming a donor.
