People recognized Robert (Bob) as a loving, caring and compassionate person who generously extended help to those in need. After graduating high school in 1963, he served as a Chaplains’ Assistant during the Vietnam War.  He then went on to study sociology as Seaton Hall University where he met his wife of 43 years, Eileen. For thirty years, Bob worked for various technology companies where he achieved numerous awards as a successful sales associate.  Outside of work, Bob found pleasure in watching his three children grow up and play sports. He considered his immediate and extended family as his greatest blessings. When he passed away, Bob’s family derived great comfort knowing that his tissue and cornea donations would benefit the lives of deserving individuals.

Robert’s Story

Born in the coal region of Pennsylvania in 1945 to James and Ann McCullion, Robert (Bob) spent his childhood years in Centralia, PA. In 1961, the McCullion family moved to Old Bridge, New Jersey. Bob graduated from Matawan High School in 1963. Following graduation, Bob served his country in the United States Army as a Chaplains’ Assistant during the Vietnam War. Upon completion of his military duties, Bob enrolled at Seton Hall University as a Sociology major graduating in 1972. While at Seton Hall, he met his future wife, Eileen O’Neil. They celebrated their wedding in Seton Hall Chapel in 1970. At the time of his death, Bob and Eileen were married for 43 years.

Bob and Eileen moved to Toms River in 1974 where they raised three wonderful children: Katie, Mike and Tim. Bob drew great pleasure watching his children on the soccer fields and basketball courts. He was also a devoted Seton Hall Basketball and Giants Football fan.

Bob worked for over 30 years for various technology companies, achieving numerous awards for his successful sales career. He took great pride in providing his customers with excellent products and service.

Bob considered his immediate and extended family as his greatest blessings. He also treasured the lasting friendships he developed throughout his lifetime. His beautiful Irish smile lit up every gathering he attended. People recognized Bob as a loving, caring and compassionate person who generously extended help to those in need. Following Bob’s death, his family derived great comfort knowing that his tissue and cornea donations would benefit the lives of deserving individuals.  Several family members, as well as friends and acquaintances, followed Bob’s example by registering as organ and tissue donors.

A humble person, Bob would be deeply touched by the recognition the New Jersey Sharing Network and Dignity Funeral Homes have given to him. His family is most grateful for the honor bestowed on our loving husband, father and brother Bob McCullion.
