LANCE’S STORY

Lance Brandon Chavez, affectionately known as Bo to his Ohana (family) and close friends, was a vibrant soul, born in the heart of Honolulu, Hawai'i. Bo's life was adorned with a boisterous laugh, an infectious smile, and an unyielding heart of pure gold. He was a devoted husband, father of five, son, big brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and a cherished friend.

Bo proudly carried his Hawai'ian heritage, spreading Aloha wherever he ventured. "Live Aloha" wasn't merely a motto but a guiding principle, echoed in his trademark "CHEE-HOO," that radiated joy. His love for Hawai'ian roots was evident in his savoring traditional cuisine and displaying his heritage through conventional tribal tattoos. Generosity defined Bo; he would give you the shirt off his back and, as his best friend "B" so perfectly put it, his last spoonful of poi. His journey led him to the United States Marine Corps, where he served with pride as a Lance Corporal and was stationed in his beloved Hawai'i.

A sports enthusiast, Bo passionately cheered for the Lakers, Dodgers, and Raiders and found solace in jujitsu at Checkmat Murrieta. With a love for music, his Ohana knows he is looking down from the heavens with immense pride to be on the OneLegacy Donate Life Rose Parade float that is Celebrating a World of Music.

Bo's untimely departure left an irreplaceable void. However, in normal Bo custom, with his huge heart and need to help every soul on this earth, he decided years ago to become an organ donor. This one magnanimous choice has allowed others to continue to be with their loved ones and friends. Bo's heart now beats in an Army veteran. His kidneys are offering renewed life to a woman and man. His tissue donations extend immeasurable gifts — restoring quality of life, filling soft tissue loss, and potentially restoring sight. A forever hero in this life and beyond, Bo echoes the spirit of "Live Aloha" in the lives he touched, a testament to the enduring impact of his beautiful soul. Bo's Ohana established the Live Aloha Foundation, carrying on his spirit of spreading Aloha.
