JAYME’S STORY

Jayme Sue Louque lived a life full of love and pure joy. She was born with Dandy-Walker syndrome and spent much of her life in and out of the hospital. Despite her disabilities, her family attempted to provide as much of a normal life as possible. In November 2021, at age 14, she suffered a catastrophic cardiac arrest and was declared brain dead several days later. The decision to donate Jayme Sue's organs was easy for her parents, as her mom is a living kidney donor, and her dad is a two-time kidney transplant recipient. Jayme Sue's lungs, intestines, liver, kidneys and pancreas helped save the lives of five people, and her gift of life-enhancing tissue and corneas helped many more. Jayme Sue enjoyed her family and friends, and everyone was her "favorite" or her "best friend." She enjoyed all things music, dance and theater. Before she was even a year old, she attended her first musical ("Fiddler on the Roof") to watch her sister perform.

Jayme Sue never missed a chance to see her sister sing and dance, or her brother perform in the band. She was an active eighth grader in her school's choir and theater department. A few weeks before she died, she was in her school performance of the "Aladdin" musical. After she died, her choir teacher commissioned a song in Jayme Sue's honor, "In Paradisum." The lyrics of "In Paradisum" incorporate the Bible verse she was named after (James 1:2) and her last words, "I want Jesus." It was sung by her classmates at the end-of-year concert. Jayme Sue is especially remembered for her unconditional love for others and her joyful spirit.
