LEAH’S STORY

Leah Wahl was born on March 17, 2005, and loved everybody and everything! It didn’t matter who you were, where you came from or how you identified, Leah deeply appreciated how each person’s uniqueness made them special. She had an amazing smile, great sense of humor and a contagious laugh, especially watching Family Guy. Leah’s empathy made her a trusted friend who constantly uplifted those struggling with depression, anxiety, body dysmorphia, etc. Her compassion extended to her plants and animals too. Leah would say, “I like plants. Feel free to give me the half dead ones…they have feelings.” In addition to nurturing her own furry, fluffy, and aquatic pets, Leah fundraised for Faithful Friends’ Animal Society and ran their 5K.

The youngest of the family, Leah was intellectually and artistically gifted. She took great pride in excelling in Honors’ classes, playing volleyball, and working in drama club behind the scenes on set design. Leah made jewelry and comic strips starring her favorite animal, the giraffe. Thrifting classic vinyl, going to concerts, and singing Queen songs at the top of her lungs while in the car demonstrated her love of music. A Philadelphia Flyers’ fanatic, Leah’s room was covered with all types of authentic NHL memorabilia. Binge watching Harry Potter movies with family and spending summers at Camp Tockwogh were treasured times.

Leah was taken into God’s hands on April 30, 2021. Soon after, some of the reasons why Leah took her life were uncovered. This was the inspiration for Leah’s Lessons, a guide which seeks to break the stigma of mental illness and bring a renewed focus on awareness, education, emotional support, and suicide prevention. After being presented to school and state representatives, new legislation was put forth to enhance support for K-12 students.

Leah was excited and proud to have Organ Donor on her new driver’s license. She wished to donate every part of her body to help others. Her wish was fulfilled with the gifts of her heart, veins, and beautiful hair. Her first gift helped an 18-month-old girl who needed heart surgery. Leah truly was the “kindest person you’ll ever meet.”
