BRITTANY’S STORY

Brittany Kate Hoover was born on June 21,1989. She was 32 when she and her family began our walk with LifeNet. She grew up in Virginia Beach with one little sister. She was loving, kind, and a giving girl.

Brittany in 2nd grade gave her shoes away because her friend loved them. She was an awesome soccer player in high school and assistant coach for little league. She also volunteered at the senior center in the office. Each day bringing smiles and jokes to all she helped. Her first job was with our family floral business with her loving grandparents. She helped teach classes and knew all the flowers names at 5. She was accepted into job corp and worked learning life skills.

Brittany was always an animal lover taking horseback lessons helping with feeding and cleaning stalls. But her love was always cats. She was passionate about finding stray cats a home. She adopted Chance and they were best buddies.

Brittany lived in Lynchburg, VA when we learned of her cardiac arrest 03/26/22. She was employed by Food Lion where she made meaningful friendships. She was a hard worker, passionate, and always willing to do more than asked.

We honored my sweet girl's final wishes of being an organ doner We have 4 recipients. She gave a 17 year old boy a kidney and bright future in sports. A 26-year male received a kidney affording him a 2nd chance at life. A 60-year-old man her liver, her sweet heart went to a 50-year-old woman, 2 eye recipients, and tissue donations. All are thriving and recovering.

Brittany's decision to be a donor has encouraged her family to become donors. We are very proud of her selfless decision to help others. Even her 4-year-old niece knows how important the green bracelet is. She says it's for "Geegee's Heart." Without LifeNet I'm not sure how we would have navigated her loss. Brittany would not have considered herself a hero, but her family and friends do. We are Brittany's biggest cheerleader.
