Tyrone's Story

Tyrone Eugene Bowie, Jr. was born on a snowy evening in Jan. 1982 to Yvette Bowie-Johnson and Tyrone Eugene Bowie, Sr. Tyrone was affectionately known as 'Babyboy' to everyone who knew and loved him.

Tyrone had a kind character, but he enjoyed a hearty debate about politics and world events. With his wonderful and witty sense of humor, Tyrone would brighten everyone's day. It was such a joy to be in his presence that one couldn't help but leave informed and inspired. From a young age, Tyrone developed very strong religious beliefs that led to numerous heartfelt conversations with those he loved most.

Family and friends were the most important aspects of Tyrone's life. He loved his family unconditionally, especially his parents and sister. Often you would find Tyrone and his Dad, Tyrone Sr., enjoying a concentrated game of chess, fishing, wrestling, playing basketball or football.

Although Tyrone's time on this earth was brief, he achieved many accomplishments, both academically and athletically. His heart truly belonged to wrestling, so much that Tyrone received a scholarship for his outstanding wrestling talents and his scholastic honors to attend the prestigious Gilman School, a private boys' school in Roland Park in Baltimore.

Tyrone, like everyone else, was not without challenges. For instance, in high school Tyrone constantly tried to blend the world of his urban ethnic community with the world of his beloved prestigious high school.

At 26, Tyrone became the proud father of a daughter Ty'Shae Marie Bowie. Nothing in life could compare with or overshadow the love that he had for his precious Babygirl. She was only 5 months when he passed away.

Before his departure from this life, Tyrone personally chose to become an organ donor, and his wish was brought to fruition in Sept. 2008. His organs were received by four recipients; he saved the lives of people whom he never had the pleasure to meet. This unselfish gesture on Tyrone's part has stirred many family members to register to become organ donors themselves.
