Age 51 ~ Shoreview, MN
Date of Donation: 2/28/01
Hospital: North Memorial, Robbinsdale, MN

Honored by LifeSource and Minnesota Lions Eye Bank

Curt Lovegren was a 51-year-old master-level electrician with his own business. On January 23, 2001, he and his wife Ruth celebrated their 30-year wedding anniversary. A month later, Curt suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and was immediately taken in for surgery. Sadly, two days later he was declared brain dead.

Although Curt was not a registered donor, his family, after discussions with their close friends, decided to donate his organs and corneas. The Lovegrens’ decision has helped six people live longer and fuller lives.

In 2005, Ruth met Ronald Laumer, whose wife Anne (also being honored with a floragraph) had also died suddenly from a brain aneurysm and became an organ and eye donor. Ronald and Ruth were happily married in September 2006. As a couple, they spend many hours a month volunteering on behalf of donation.
