At age 17, John "Johnny" Marcus Lopez became an organ donor after dying from injuries sustained in a motor-bike accident. Caring, curious, and much-loved, family members recall that Lopez had a contagious smile. "About six months after the accident, they sent me a letter with some of the recipients," his father Steve recalled. "I wanted to meet them all, but as time passed I was unable to." That is, until the recipient of one of Johnny's kidneys, Daniel Ronco, was selected to ride the 2008 Donate Life Rose Parade Float. Ronco's selection was the catalyst for his first-time meeting with Johnny's family and subsequently honoring Johnny with a floragraph.
