Registered Donor
Age 26 ~ Falls Church, VA
Died 11/9/01
Hospital: INOVA Fairfax

Honored by Washington Regional Transplant Community

Leslie completed her undergraduate work at Colgate University and received a Masters in Anatomy from Georgetown University. At age 25, her first job brought her to Washington Regional Transplant Community (WRTC). As a WRTC Clinical Coordinator, she helped save and heal lives by coordinating the recovery of organs, tissues and pancreas islet cell.

Leslie’s life was cut short abruptly. A hospital visit due to sudden flu-like symptoms resulted in a diagnosis of acute myelogenous lymphoma. Within days, she was gone. Leslie’s family wanted to facilitate her wish to become a donor, but because of her diagnosed condition, Leslie was unable to donate for transplantation.

Leslie’s experience and that of the Ebert family is extremely important to the world of donation; everyone who wants to donate is a donor in intention and spirit even if sometimes they are unable to donate in actuality. Those who have made the decision to donate, and their families who support that decision, forward the Donate Life mission across America.

Leslie’s work and spirit live on at WRTC through an annual college scholarship program and a bereavement packet given by WRTC coordinators to all the families they support at area hospitals.
