Eight weeks before 22-year-old Dustin Michael Bauer was set to graduate from Mount Saint Mary’s University with a double major in Sociology and Criminal Justice, he accidentally fell 15 feet from a landing in his apartment complex onto his head.

Dustin was a strong, healthy, athletic young man, but he never recovered from surgery. He was pronounced brain-dead on March 12, 2008. His parents, immediately understanding they could transform his passing into something positive, opted for organ donation. They donated his kidneys, liver, pancreas, corneas, and heart valves. Today, all of the recipients are reported to be doing very well with Dustin’s gifts.
