His family began considering organ donation, only to find that Brandon had already registered. Brandon was able to donate his kidneys and liver to save three lives. His skin and heart valves were used to help those in need, and his corneas gave the gift of sight. His parents Oran and Laura have continued his legacy with the Brandon Pentz Memorial Fund. They inspire others with Brandon's story and know that his spirit of giving lives one.

Brandon's Story

Brandon Pentz lived every day of his 28 years to the fullest. He did everything 110%, and could often be heard saying: "Go big or go home!" People gravitated to Brandon - he always cared for others above himself and had a way of making everyone around him feel special.

He was a beloved son, brother, and loyal friend. Brandon played football in college, and then went on to work in plumbing. When he wasn't playing sports or working on his red 1966 Chevelle, he was helping his dad in the yard, cooking with his mom, helping a friend with a household chore, or even changing a stranger's tire on the side of the road.

The source of Brandon's passion for life and generous spirit was his faith in God. His life can best be summed up by 2 Timothy 4:7: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful."

In August 2010, Brandon suffered a traumatic brain injury after an accidental fall. After a week of heroic efforts, Brandon's injury was determined to be irreversible. His family began considering organ donation, only to find that Brandon had already registered.

Even in Brandon's passing, he continued to give. Three people are alive today because of Brandon's gift of his kidneys and liver. His skin was used to help burn victims. His heart valves were used in replacement surgeries for patients with failing valves. And his corneas provided someone the gift of sight to someone. In Brandon style, he "went big" before he "went home."

Brandon's family has continued his legacy of big giving by creating the Brandon Pentz Memorial Fund. His family and friends have participated in the annual Donate Life Run/Walk at Cal State Fullerton and raised more than $22,000 in the past three years. Brandon's parents, Oran and Laura Pentz, inspire others with Brandon's story to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation.

"Brandon's spirit of giving lives on through his organ donation, and in each of us who was blessed to call him family or friend," Oran affirmed.
