John Carlisle McDavid IV was a champion for those in need, especially children, and volunteered his time at Texas Children's Hospital. He felt it was his duty to offer assistance and share even a small amount of love to those he encountered.

"From his early days in high school, John had always expressed a desire to be an organ donor," said his father. After John died on October 1, 2013, at age 40, he became an organ, tissue and cornea donor.

His father confirmed that "John delivered life to several families who were awaiting the grace of God to receive his blessed and beautiful organs. We are comforted by knowing he helped others have life with his unselfish desire to donate his organs."

John's Story

John Carlisle McDavid IV was a champion for those in need, especially children, and volunteered his time at Texas Children's Hospital. He also had a heart for the homeless and always offered assistance. John felt it was his duty to pass along even a small amount of love to those he encountered.

John's laugh was infectious - he could have made a comedy show with his brother Robert and other friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor which drew others to laugh with him. John was a true friend; any friend of his had undivided loyalty.

He was a natural athlete, preferring basketball and tennis. He was also an artist, and icons with scripture and lessons from saints were the focal point of his art. John's heart was centered on his faith, which is where he found his joy and peace.

According to his father, John Carlisle McDavid III, John was a wonderful father who cherished and loved his three sons: John V, Nicholaus and Thomas. Camping, bicycling, walks in the woods and spending time at the beach were just some of the activities they enjoyed as a family. He made sure they attended church and often had prayer time together.

His father noted that "From his early days in high school, John had always expressed a desire to be an organ donor." After John died on October 1, 2013, at age 40, he was able to fulfill that desire by becoming an organ, tissue and cornea donor.

John's father confirmed that his son "delivered life to several families who were awaiting the grace of God to receive his blessed and beautiful organs. We will miss him deeply and cherish the wonderful times together. And we are comforted by knowing he helped others have life with his unselfish desire to donate his organs."
